The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

I wish DawnoftheDead was on, because I have some weird theories to share, and some strange questions to ask...and I need someone that can hear these theories and help expand upon them, and give even stranger answers to my questions. Since she is not on...who wants to be her substitute?

Also, I have been watching urban exploration videos all day, and so many of those abandoned houses still contain so many of the previous owner's possessions, damn near all of them. I think that makes it far more unsettling. I wish I wasn't such a little bitch, so I could go "urban exploring".

Just finished making this for the same member that I made a crest for previously, the3vilqueen. She requested an image for her profile page with a "poison apple", with the words, "bite it bitch." This is fairly simple...really simple actually. Took me no time to make. That being said I am more than sure that someone with a bit more knowledge about photoshop would have taken the idea of a "poison apple" and just ran with it...but other than altering the saturation and the coloring I can't do much in photoshop. I don't even know how those people that are really awesome with photoshop would alter the appearance of the apple, not so much creatively, but technically...with the program.

Anyway, I am definitely considering typing up a list of rules for people approaching me to make things for them, posting it in my journal and then linking these people to the rules whenever they ask for me to make them something. Several people seem to take it for granted that I am going to do whatever they ask, or they feel that there is no question about it, that I just am. I have never liked people with a sense of entitlement, especially not when it applies to me and a favor I may or may not feel like doing for them. The most important thing to remember is that I do not have to do this...and due to some people's behavior, I am going to have to start invoking my right to say no.

Anyway...yeah, just a really, really simple image for someone's "about me" section.

I strongly suggest that...if you are bored and searching for an interesting youtube video to watch, that you watch the "documentary" called, "Aleister Crowley: the Other Lochness Monster."

I promise that I am not obsessed with Crowley, and that I am not a follower of his Thelema religion. It is just that he is my current interest. I'm still reading that biography on him I bought a few weeks back. My previous interest was jeffery Dahmer and I bought several books on him. One of which was written by his father and another was written by a former classmate.

...I wonder who I will read about next.

Those of you interested in occult practices, or any religion or philosophy that expounds the belief of being able to manipulate the physical realm through ritual...I'm curious to know what your thoughts on Crowley and thelema are. Was he a great magician, did his rituals/magic work? Was he simply a fanatic, used to living off free money, manipulating others in an attempt to keep the gravy train rolling? Is he in your mind, as he is to many people, a "stain on the realm of magic"?

I had no idea that an episode of scariest places on earth was filmed in the abbey of thelema. :D

Just finished this stamp for a darknetwork Sentoran. Not sure how I feel about it, maybe it is just due to the fact that lately my moods have been predominantly negative...and this negativity is seeping into how I feel about my art, and most other things. I hope this person likes it; what do you think?

Latest photoshop experiment...a rate stamp: I just made this stamp, don't know what the person thinks of it yet, as I don't think that she is online. The background is just a mass of safety pins, but I may have over done it. I can remake the stamp, and I guess, just thin them out if she wants, but overall I guess it's okay looking. This stamp is unique as I couldn't find any decent, "punk" images I felt like using, or felt that I could use...so I ended up adding one of my own drawings.

Just wanted to note that when scrolling down the covens page, I saw three of the crests I made in use. :)

My photoshop schedule has been thrown off even further. I had to work a fourteen hour shift today but that is what happens when someone quits, and the other employees are much too sorry to pick up a ringing phone. My feet hurt so bad. So does my back. It feels so good to sit down.

Photoshop/creative issues...coupled with emotional issues...blugh. I am behind on the projects/images I am supposed to be making for people. Not to whine or anything but lately real life issues have had me pretty...messed up, in an emotional sense. Things got pretty bad there for a few days. I have a strong hope that things will begin to improve, but that remains to be seen...I guess.... God I hope things get better.

Anyway, now that I finally got that background image made...which was largely experimental and I still may have to postpone any project I start to make adjustments or to make a new image, I have to make two stamps, an image for a profile, and a crest. So far, only two people that have requested for me to make images for them have sent me specifics or ideas to work with...so, yeah, I guess I will start on them and work on them in the next day or two. (Considering today is pretty much over).

I hope I am remembering everyone, ah well...if I forget someone hopefully they will remind me.

Send me requests for things to make, to distract me? Be as detailed and specific in your requests as possible so I have a clear idea as to what I am doing. Also, keep in mind I am new at this, so while you are including details of what you want me to make, keep in mind your project should be relatively/fairly simple. Also, leave room and expect for me to take creative freedoms since this is a favor I am offering to people, and not a service you are supposed to receive. I am doing this for fun, because I enjoy photoshop, not because I have to do this. ;)

Seriously though, I don't know what to do in regards to these real life issues. I wish I could just stop worrying like everyone has advised me to do...but that's not in my nature.

I should have dinner considering it is getting late, but i don't really feel like it just yet.

I guess I could start editing a few of the images for the first person's stamp.

Ugh. Fuck. Seriously...just...fuck. I don't know what that means. I suppose it was supposed to be an exclamation of my frustrations, fears, and worries/anxieties.

Whatever.

Curses, destruction rituals...thoughts?

Photoshop advice needed. I was supposed to have made a background for a really good friend a while ago...but didn't do it, why? Well, the task seems absolutely daunting, and intimidating. I'm afraid I will not be able to do it. That the project will come out pixelated and awful. Also, I have no idea what the dimensions for a vampire rave background should be. It's all just confusing, but the guilt I feel for having not made this image is beginning to outweigh my apprehension at trying it...so yeah, advice?!

Also...what should the dimensions be so that it fits properly?

The best option would be setting the background image file according to screen resolution of the individual viewer and provide a few common size variations but very few want to go to all that trouble. So past that, 16:9 aspect ratio monitors are fairly common due to HD now which makes 1920 x 1080 the desktop standard. Depending on the image used you can play it safe and do a centered 1280 wide with a gradient fade outward for a total overall size of 1600 wide by 1200 tall that way it is still a decent background when viewed by anyone using screen resolutions between 1024 up to 1600 or more.

Just finished this crest. Instead of making multiple crests with each element she wanted...I just went ahead and added everything, except for one or two things that wouldn't fit. I was hesitant to do so, initially, because I didn't think it would all fit in an aesthetically pleasing manner, but I don't know. I like how it turned out.

I started a crest before work last night. A crest...that well...the coven master wants to include way too many elements for the 400 x 400 space. I am not knocking this person or her initial idea. I mean if you haven't made a crest you aren't really sure of what is possible or impossible. I am in the process of picking and choosing elements from her description and well...experimenting. So far. I am not happy. I think I will make multiple crests, with multiple combinations of the elements she desired and choose the one that looks best.

I really do go above and beyond for you people.

Coven crests... Seems to be all I make now. I am in the process of making a crest, but paused to type this entry and to choose another Lovecraft audiobook to listen to while I work. I was giving it some thought and am considering taking a break from making crests, so get your orders in while you can, before I make up my mind.

Also, I am considering asking for some type of payment.

I know, seems petty right, but some of the people requesting this favor, that I am offering them, act as if it is a right and not a privilege to have something made for them by me.

I don't know, I volunteered though...and it isn't like I don't enjoy making things in photoshop.

I'll give it some thought, up until this point the only thing I required of anyone that I created a crest for was a link on their main page, linking back to my profile, that stated, "coven crest created by Oddity."

I honestly don't know if I will take a break or if I will ever expect any kind of payment in return for making things for people.

I am just in a bad mood considering I woke up in a ton of pain and have been hurting all day and tonight is my night to work. Blugh.

That is exactly the attitude that made me just stop doing Crests for people. When someone takes what you do on your free time, not realizing how much work actually goes into making an image, for granted, like they are the only reason we do this, just really got on my nerves. It's why I will no longer do things for people, unless I want to, which is never these days. But, don't let it taint the experience. If someone is coming off like the favor your doing them isn't a favor at all, just tell them to go screw themselves. You don't have to deal with people who behave in such a fashion. In the end it got to me, don't let it get to you. Your work is wonderful.

My latest crest(s). RoyalZombie contacted me some time yesterday about making a crest for him. I was busy making images for other people, but saved his specifications and told him I would get to it when I could. This morning with my first cup of coffee I started working on his crest. It was a bit daunting...trying to find images for what he had in mind, images that I could use. I found some that I felt I could work with and spent an hour or two putting them together. The first image you see here was the end result. Believe it or not, upon completing this project...I was actually proud of what I had made. But as the day wore on, I began to feel...that it just didn't look right. I realized that I was proud because it was something that I had made...sounds stupid, I realize this, but it is the truth. Sometimes when you draw something, make something, or whatever...you're just so happy with the outcome, because it is something you put a lot of time and effort in, that you can't see all of the faults/mistakes you made. I asked immortalxkiss what she thought, and well, her words brought me to my senses, haha. I appreciate her words of encouragement immensely. I am also appreciative of the fact that when I asked her what was wrong with an image, she told me, but in a way in which that I didn't feel she was being rude or anything like that. Anyway, much later in the day. I decided to just...start over, make the crest again, from scratch.

This is the second version of the crest that I made for RoyalZombie. I spent considerably more time working on this one. I think that it looks much better than the original. RoyalZombie also, wanted to incorporate the fact that his coven was coming up on its two year anniversary...and I had no idea how to incorporate that in a crest, except for how I did so in the original image. I had forgotten to include that bit in the second crest...so I fired up photoshop again and made the relatively small adjustment....

Which leads us to the final image. Ultimately, I'm happy with the way this crest looks now, and am glad I made the decision to start from scratch. Hopefully he likes this crest as well.

In regards to the crest I made earlier today, the one that is still "private"...well, I have already merged the layers and saved the project but I still have the original images used in the crest saved so I think I am going to make it again...in the hopes of correcting the few issues I have with the original.

I made a pretty awesome crest this morning. There are only a few things I would like to change.... Anyway, I have saved it here in a private entry, and am waiting to hear back from the person it was made for before I display it here.

I created this crest for The3vilqueen and her future coven. She messaged me with her idea, which I expanded upon and modified to suit my capabilities. Once again, this image isn't my usual style, but I had fun making it. I must admit after recent events I'm a bit discouraged...but whatever, tons of people have been asking me to make things and I am pretty "booked up", haha, with enough requests to keep me busy for a while. It was tough, designing something as per someone else's wants/instructions...just as it was the last time I gave it a try, but yeah...like I said, it was fun. I think it looks nice.

I have been making things in photoshop and listening to H. P. Lovecraft audiobooks all day. It has been nice.

I am making a stamp, as a surprise for a friend. Then I have to make a background image, and some other things for two other people.

For someone that isn't very good, I sure do have a lot of requests to get started on. ;)

Just a thought...I have only had photoshop for sixteen days. I am sure I will continue to improve, and am looking forward to the countless images I am surely going to make.

I intend on taking this tip/kismet to heart. The ignorant run rampant...but it would be highly stupid to allow an inconsequential person to affect something so important to me; and I am not stupid.

Just finished making this crest for StormBringer and her coven, Nature's Melody. Let me preface what I want to say about the image I have made by stating, I have never spoken to this person before. I don't know her, I do not know her reputation or even if she has one. When I create graphics for someone that does not mean that I am friends with the person, or in alliance with their personal beliefs or ways of thinking. Nor does it mean that I intend to become a member of his or her coven. As this is the first crest I have been asked to make, I just felt it was necessary to post this sort of disclaimer, as it applies to this person and me making the crest for her, it will apply to future agreements I may reach with other people.

Anyway, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...right? Right.

As I stated in the previous journal entry...I was asked to make this crest and given specific elements to include. I stuck to those specifications and that is about all I did. I am not saying this person's idea was bad. It was quite creative actually...it is just, every artist has his or her own style, and this was not my style. Besides that, in the previous entry I also touched on passion and inspiration. I think anytime an artist is randomly hit with inspiration and a design of his or her own creation/thinking...the end result will be far better than the end result of a project that he or she starts with someone else's specifications in mind.

Her idea was not bad, it just wasn't my own...you know?

Working on something at the request of someone else...and with their specifications is fairly difficult. Once again I must acknowledge a renewal of my admiration for what immortal is capable of on an artistic level. For me, it is fairly difficult to create an image unless I have been inspired to do so/the image has come to me. Trying to create someone else's ideal...is just...difficult. There is this feeling that what I am creating just isn't that great because it lacks that...not to sound lame, but it really lacks a sense of passion.

There is also this feeling of uncertainty, like I am doing it all wrong.

Drat.

I have been kicking photoshop's ass quite thoroughly, if I do say so myself.

I just made this crest for the alliance of Arthropoda. I was not asked to do so, I don't expect it to be used or to replace their current crest. I did this because a while back my own coven was a member of this alliance. It was a very different place back then with very different covens making up the alliance. Anyway, I made this because...well, I was bored, I felt like making something, and this idea came to me. I'm posting this here to give you all an idea as to what I can do in photoshop. It isn't that great, I still had a lot to learn. I have only watched one tutorial. I need to watch more, and practice the techniques they show in the videos. I can't break away from making things long enough to watch any tutorials.

This is my favourite so far. It's very clean, and sharp. It's gets attention. Blending is often the hardest part of photo manipulation, but it truly looks like you are improving. I honestly believe you have the potential for this. If it's something you want to devote yourself to and have the heart for then I'd imagine you could bring together some really brilliant work.



Compared to your most recent creation... Passion and inspiration tends to bring out the best in art.

I may have made a decision in regards to which society I would like for this account to end up a member.

after working for five or six hours, I have finished the crest I was working on. It looks...decent, not great, but...okay. I am being too hard on myself. Now I have two crests made, and have some ideas for a few more. Maybe I will make them tomorrow.

My sleeping schedule is all messed up.

As my kismet states, I am in the process of creating a coven crest. Considering that this is my first attempt...I am not really making something that I feel will be used or taken seriously. This is more or less an experimental procedure, done to get a feel for creating something with the "Vampire Rave crest concept" in mind. The image that I make will undoubtedly turn out to be way too "busy" and "cluttered" to be taken seriously. That being said...I am having a blast searching out images and well...making the crest.

My kismet also asks for people to "wish me...inspiration." Although I, obviously, welcome any and all types of positive vibes, I felt that instead of asking for luck, in this particular endeavor it may be more appropriate to wish for inspirational thoughts. Which, thankfully, I happen to be channeling quite successfully at the moment.

I really want to try implementing someone else's ideas into my work though, but then again I am very wary of that. My work is personal, it is mine...that sort of petty way of thinking. Also, I know better than anyone else what I am capable of...and not capable of, so yeah... :)

Covens/Houses/Societies: As I expected, with the creation of this account...tons of people have approached me in regards to joining their respective societies. I'm not that interested. I'm not opposed...but my interests lie else where. To be exact...what I had hoped was to find, or rather to have find me, an aspiring coven master. A sire, or some one close to attaining the level, with an idea that could clear away my fog of indifference. I had hoped to have someone come to me and tell me their vision...and to bring that vision to life, as a very dear soul has always done for me.
